Standardized separation depends on matched parts. Every Evosep method has a specified column, every column has a matched emitter, and every Performance column has a defined temperature — which is what makes results transfer between runs, systems and laboratories.

Why matched parts

Standardization is the point

Evosep delivers reproducibility run-to-run, column-to-column and instrument-to-instrument — and the columns and emitters are a large part of how. Every analytical column ships with pre-mounted connection fittings that are finger-tight and free of dead volume, so the connection itself stops being a source of variability.

Each standard method has a recommended column, and each column has a specified operating temperature. Follow the pairing and you get the documented performance without method development. Deviate from it — a different column, an unheated Performance column — and the published metrics no longer apply.

Column lifetime. Partial elution from Evotip Pure keeps large, hydrophobic molecules off the analytical column, and the measured effect is a column that does not drift: across 1,056 consecutive injections on a single column, high-pressure pump stability held at 2.5 bar standard deviation, with no systematic rise in backpressure (AN-046A). Evosep states that Performance column lifetime extends to tens of thousands of injections.

Evosep Endurance and Performance column lines

Two lines, and only one of them runs on Eno. On Evosep One, Endurance runs the standard methods at ambient temperature — robust and reproducible everywhere, for everyone, every time. Performance delivers exceptional results but asks something in return: elevated column temperature control to manage system backpressure.

Which column for which method

Evosep Eno standard methods use Evosep Performance columns, all heated to 40 °C. The Whisper™ Zoom methods use IonOpticks columns at 50 °C.

Two lines, one table. Endurance columns run at ambient temperature; Performance columns require elevated temperature control.

This section applies to Evosep One only. The Endurance line is available to Evosep One customers and is not compatible with Evosep Eno.

Endurance line — Evosep One only

Used in the Evosep One standard methods for robust, reproducible performance at ambient temperature — everywhere, for everyone, every time. Packed with ReproSil-Pur C18 beads by Dr Maisch. Not available for Evosep Eno.

Performance line — Evosep One and Evosep Eno

For exceptional results, with one requirement: elevated column temperature control to manage system backpressure. EV1109 and EV1115 use ReproSil Saphir C18, 1.5 µm; EV1112 and EV1118 use ReproSil-Pur C18, 1.9 µm.

Open-ended columns

Every column comes by default with fittings for Evosep emitters and spray adapters. When those are not appropriate for your setup, open-ended versions — marked OE — are available with a UHP union instead, so you can connect your own emitter.

Emitters

Three emitters, integrated liquid junctions

Evosep emitters are made from either stainless steel or fused silica and come with integrated liquid junctions, for zero dead volume, finger-tight connections in Evosep source adapters. All are supplied in packages of two.

EV1086

Stainless steel · ID 30 µm

The standard choice, and the emitter specified for use with Evosep Pod column ovens and Evosep Eno Performance columns.

EV1087

Fused silica · ID 20 µm

Fused silica with an integrated liquid junction, for setups where a narrower bore is preferred.

EV1111

Fused silica · ID 10 µm

The narrowest option — and the required emitter for the EV1112 Performance column used by the Whisper 20 and 40 SPD methods.

Every Pod is compatible with the EV1182, EV1109 and EV1137 Performance columns and the EV1086 stainless steel emitter. The Evosep Pod is intended to be used as General Laboratory Equipment (GLE).
